Job Overview

We are seeking a Manager, Quality and Mission Assurance to join our team in Camden, Arkansas.

This Quality Engineering manager role will have the authority and responsibility to effectively communicate and interface daily with Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) executives, peers, direct reports, customers (internal & external) and all organizations within the company. Will be responsible and accountable for applying quality principles, technical knowledge and continuous improvement philosophies. Responsible for leading and directing the Quality Engineering team and for developing and maintaining a Culture of Quality both within his/her team and across the site. In addition, the individual will develop and maintain the site quality engineering strategy for assuring a quality product that meets the customer's requirements at the lowest cost is produced. Must have strong customer skills, and be able to anticipate and manage customer expectations. Some travel to other AR sites may be required. Must have a thorough understanding of budgets, Enterprise Support Plans, metrics and continuous improvement tools within a quality and technical organization.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Essential Functions

30% - Provide technical direction to team/coaching.

15% - Monitor performance; investigate issues using Root cause tools & implement corrective actions.

15% - Customer coordination/interface.

15% - Participate on site level boards & initiatives.

15% - Strategic planning and QA improvement initiatives.

10% - Administrative Functions.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in quality, safety, engineering or related field and at least nine (9) years of directly related experience. Extensive background in the field of rocket engine or solid rocket motor propulsion and testing is preferred. A strong understanding of quality management system and quality principles is expected. Demonstrated ability to strategically organize and complete projects, objectives and tasks. A passion and understanding for continuous improvement concepts and the ability to deploy and lead to the benefit of the business is required. Candidates overall experience and personal competencies will be taken into account.

Strong leadership, problem solving, and written/verbal communication skills are required. The candidate must have a track record that demonstrates he/she: 1) is a highly motivated team player; 2) consistently meets his/her commitments; 3) has the ability to motivate and inspire change; and 4) possesses the skills to coach/mentor individuals to work effectively in a government and commercial facility environment under time and budget constraints.

Will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard manufacturing and/or office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
