https://fulbright.uark.edu/departments/world-languages/Summary of Job Duties:The Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time Instructor in Spanish to start in August 2024 for a multi-year appointment, renewable contingent upon performance, needs and available funding. This is a standard non-tenure track nine-month faculty appointment. The instructor will be expected to teach four courses per semester and assist in the extra-curricular activities organized by the Spanish section and allied programs. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures promotes an international understanding and global academic exchange. Through the World Languages and Digital Humanities Studio, courses in 12 languages, and participation in many interdisciplinary programs across campus, faculty members empower students to become proficient communicators and acquire a working knowledge of cultures and literatures around the world. https://fulbright.uark.edu/departments/world-languages/

Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials, the candidate must demonstrate

  • M.A. degree in Spanish, Pedagogy (with a focus in second language teaching), or related field conferred by the first day of employment

  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English

  • Teaching experience and evidence of quality teaching across all levels of the Spanish language curriculum


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with curriculum development and with organizing events to promote Spanish programs

  • Experience organizing service-learning projects and/or teaching courses on Hispanic language, history, and culture
