As a part of the Water Design Center for Garver, the I&C Engineer/Designer will be responsible for developing power distribution, instrumentation, control schematics, and SCADA designs in support of various Water Services projects company-wide. Diversity in high-volume, custom plant projects will allow this engineer the opportunity to be hands-on with design and coordinate directly with multiple engineering disciplines on most projects.
General responsibilities will include electrical and I&C support as required for a variety of projects, but the majority of the expected assignments will be related to developing instrumentation, control, and SCADA network designs for new water and wastewater treatments plants or improvements to existing water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and designing P&IDs for water and wastewater projects.
  • Contribute to the design of pump starters and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) control schematics.
  • Learn to design PLC and SCADA Ethernet networks tailored to individual project requirements.
  • Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate instrumentation for a variety of treatment processes.
  • Support in preparing project technical specifications for all I&C and SCADA-related elements.
  • Collaborate with team members in reviewing contractor submittals and responding to RFIs (contractor Requests for Information) during construction phase of projects.
  • Engage in site visits and client workshops to gain hands-on experience in project alignment with client expectations.
  • Learn to oversee construction startups and contribute to developing punchlists for I&C items.
  • Work on multiple projects, gradually taking on more responsibilities in I&C and SCADA design.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pursuing engineering, technical, or drafting secondary education OR relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in water and wastewater electrical/I&C design.
  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering design, including controls, instrumentation, SCADA systems, and power distribution systems.
  • Eagerness to learn and stay updated on industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Familiarity with PLC and HMI programming software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant systems.
  • Experience or knowledge in the field of OT (Operational Technology) Cybersecurity.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit CAD programs.
Some travel may be required for site assessments and construction support.
