Engineering Manager

Job Description Summary

AAM is looking to hire an Engineering Manager to lead Automation, CNC setup, Tooling and Program Management manufacturing support teams at our Subiaco Metal Forming facility.

AAM's Engineering Managers oversee all Manufacturing, Project and Product Engineering requirements while providing direction on all engineering aspects to meet financial objectives. You will also lead all costing aspects related to new business opportunities while being the primary interface into the Corporate Cost Request system.

The ideal candidate for this role is an effective leader of engineering groups, and is experienced in working with large automotive customers.

Job Description

  • Management of manufacturing, process, automation, tooling, and product engineering personnel.
  • Solicit instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible corrective actions.
  • Lead peer reviews of various product development projects, delivers technical presentations to various stakeholders and participates in technical reviews throughout the product development cycle. This will include all aspects of compaction tooling, process flow, tooling required for finishing and automation.
  • Review prototype development and effectiveness at it relates to financial objectives.
  • Perform engineering calculations, design analysis and related tasks.
  • Interface with program managers to develop related prototype activity.
  • Tracks product engineering project accomplishments by comparing outcomes to plans, summarizing results and keeping management informed.
  • Coordinate fabrication and installation of machines, fixtures, and gauging equipment.
  • Interface with production managers to aid in solving routine production problems. Lead automation, compaction tooling, finish machine tooling and CNC setup activities to improve plant metrics.
  • Lead customer facing communication activities regarding quality and design issues where appropriate.
  • Take the lead in providing closure regarding any open issues. Support APQP, Continuous Improvement and problem-solving teams.
  • Provide cost analysis for new business opportunities.

Required Skills and Education

  • Completed Bachelors Degree with a focus in Engineering discipline
  • 8+ years engineering/manufacturing related experience, automotive environment preferred.
  • Experience leading an engineering group
