Position: Workforce Development Specialist

Reporting To: Associate Vice President for Community Engagement

Location: Bentonville, AR (On-site)

About The Position:

The Workforce Development Specialist will play an important role assessing current health care workforce needs, forecasting future gaps and partnering with local workforce development organizations to create and maintain a robust pipeline of health care workers. In addition, this position will be responsible for strategizing, implementing, and monitoring health care workforce development efforts while providing direction to stay on track toward meeting goals. A key component of the role will be coordinating and monitoring partner relationships to support development and evaluation of customized trainings while integrating a whole health delivery model.

This position requires a strong combination of organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic fast-paced environment. The Workforce Development Specialist will handle sensitive and confidential information and interact with internal and external stakeholders and thus will need a high level of discretion.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create the Institute's strategic plan to improve health care workforce development efforts in the region.
  • Collaborate with health care employers to assess current and future workforce needs, including skill gaps and areas of high demand.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with technical institutes and higher education institutions to develop innovative training programs that align with identified workforce needs and address specific skill shortages and emerging trends in the health care sector.
  • Coordinate with educational partners to develop curriculum content, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and focus groups with stakeholders to gather input and feedback on workforce development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain individuals from diverse backgrounds into health care training programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, educators, and employers participating in workforce development programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through data analysis, participant feedback, and industry outcomes.
  • Stay informed about advancements in health care technology, regulations, and industry standards to continuously adapt training approaches.
  • Collaborate with local agencies, community organizations, and government entities to leverage resources and support workforce development initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between healthcare employers, educational institutions, and government agencies to foster partnerships and promote collaboration in addressing workforce challenges.
  • Other duties as requested to meet department and organizational needs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in workforce development, recruiting, human resources, education, or related field. Experience in health care workforce development or closely related industry is highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of the health care sector, including trends, regulations, and workforce dynamics.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with health care employers, technical institutes, and higher education partners.
  • Proficiency in conducting workforce assessments, analyzing data, and identifying skill gaps to inform training program development.
  • Experience in designing and developing training curricula tailored to meet the needs of healthcare employers and students.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative training methods that address workforce needs effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas, facilitate meetings, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences, with the ability to create inclusive training environments.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, industry trends, and stakeholder needs in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize several projects.
  • Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of private non-profit practices; utmost discretion in all matters related to the role.

Physical demands:In the work environment described, position requires sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job. Additionally, this position requires meeting the public and the organization in a professional and courteous manner.

Work environment:Work will be performed in an office environment. The physical arrangement of the office may require the position to work in an open environment within close proximity to other colleagues. Work will be performed in an office environment full-time (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Occasional evening and weekend work hours, and some local travel will be required.
