- Performs maintenance, calibration, and repair on plant control and electrical systems hardware and software including but not limited to boiler or heat recovery steam generator control systems, generator excitation and voltage control systems, and balance of plant control systems.
- Maintains plant's continuous emissions monitoring systems, as required, for compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Review maintenance requests, develop and follow a schedule of inspection and testing, pertaining to instruments and electric service necessary to optimize plant operation and alarm condition monitoring.
- Maintains familiarity with safety policies and plant lockout/tagout program and observes and practices all safety precautions. Maintains familiarity with and abides by all applicable internal policies and procedures regarding NERC and FERC compliance.
- Maintains plant communication equipment including digital control networks, intercom/PA systems, telecom systems, and wireless data systems. Maintains the plant electric service system, elevator, industrial power devices, lights, heat, air conditioning, services wiring, and auxiliary power batteries.
- Maintains and utilizes historical plant performance database, interprets control system software, and performs data analysis as needed to support plant systems troubleshooting, maintenance troubleshooting, or engineering evaluation.
- Implements modifications, as directed, to various control and electrical systems by procuring competitive pricing, installing the equipment, configuring software or settings for proper function, and updating drawings.
- Travels to other locations and performs work as directed.
- Adjusts control system parameters as necessary to optimize control loop tuning and alarm condition monitoring.
- Leads efforts to troubleshoot plant systems and makes recommendations to correct problems.
- Maintains a technical reference file of instruction books, drawings, schematics, etc. that will aid in comprehending and maintaining the plant instruments.
- Coordinates with supervisor in developing and maintaining a stock of spare parts and special tools required to service plant instruments and electrical systems.
- May be required to demonstrate procedural compliance in plant operation activities after site-specific training and operating the plant when needed.
- May be required to perform some tasks as directed by the Power Delivery department after appropriate training.
- Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.
- The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this
position.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Power Plant Technology or similar field or High School Diploma/GED, plus at least 5 years related experience and/or training.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License.
