Description

  • Operates steam, combustion, and hydroelectric turbines, aligns drains, and makes all necessary adjustments while working in operations. Performs minor and major mechanical maintenance on all plant equipment while working in maintenance. Performs maintenance, calibration, and repair on plant control, electrical, and communications systems, hardware, and software while working as an instrumentation technician.
  • Inspects all plant equipment inside and outside, checks and lubricates equipment in accordance with the prescribed procedure, periodically records readings on log sheets as directed, and reports all non-routine items found.
  • Utilizes AECC's Enterprise Asset Management System to identify the need for maintenance and track all activities and statistics required to support maintenance and operations functions.
  • Travels to remotely located hydroelectric turbine and combustion turbine plants and performs work as directed.
  • Participates in the training program and continually seeks to improve skills required.
  • Cleans assigned area as directed.
  • Maintains familiarity with, observes, and practices all safety precautions. Maintains familiarity with and abides by all applicable internal AECC policies and procedures regarding NERC and FERC compliance.
  • Performs duties in such a manner that applicable laws, regulations, and permit requirements including environmental permit requirements are adhered to.
  • Performs water tests as directed and operates water treatment equipment such as demineralizers, reverse osmosis units, and filtration systems.
  • Carries out security duties as necessary and as directed including screening/identifying visitors and performing security patrols to enforce security policies.
  • Assists with equipment lockout/Tagout for maintenance by positioning energy isolation devices as directed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all plant equipment in accordance with schedules to ensure reliable equipment operation.
  • Directs other technicians in accordance with Maintenance Supervisor's instructions while working in maintenance.
  • Performs maintenance tasks in the area of specialized skills (welding, machinist) while working in maintenance if applicable.
  • Maintains plant continuous emissions monitoring systems as required for compliance with State and Federal regulations while working as an instrument technician.
  • Maintains and utilizes historical plant performance database, interprets control system software, and performs data analysis as needed to support plant systems troubleshooting, maintenance troubleshooting, or engineering evaluation while working as an instrument technician.
  • Assists in the firing of the boiler and all duties related to burning fuel oil including unloading and transferring oil, cleaning strainers, and spill cleanup.
  • Performs any and all other tasks assigned by the line of supervision that the employee is physically able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school or GED, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technician 1- 3 years relevant experience

Technician III- 5 years relevant experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license and the ability to legally operate commercial motor vehicles under 26,000 pounds. Welding certification required for qualification as a welder.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Industrial electricians license preferred for qualification as instrument technician.
