Under the supervision of the Brightwater Storeroom Supervisor, the Part Time Student Worker will serve in various aspects of supporting the day-to-day operation of the storeroom, classrooms, kitchens, and common areas.

The Student Workers will assist the Storeroom Supervisor with various aspects of storeroom operations, supporting classes, inventory, cleaning and other duties within the storeroom.

  • Building carts for class instructions
  • Inventory operations in the storeroom
  • Cleaning and organizing storeroom
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist with the day to day operations of the storeroom.
  • Use a variety of kitchen equipment such as mixers, special knives and cutters.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls.
  • Interacts with students, staff members, and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Maintains proper inventory records to ensure all products and equipment are accounted for.
  • Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.

Rate of Pay: $11.25 per hour

  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Good communication--including listening skills--required.
  • Proven ability to work independently at times and within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with other departments and guests.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • A strong interest in food and cooking preferred.
  • A familiarity with and appreciation for Brightwater, NWACC, and its programs.

The employee must be able to:

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cases of food items or kitchen equipment.
  • Push or pull items such as kitchen carts and equipment.
  • Interact with other staff members.
  • Climb a step stool or ladder and reach above shoulders.
  • Ability to frequently stand and walk; bend, stoop, squat, kneel and reach overhead.
  • Reach above the head and reach forward.
  • Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls; use hand strength to grasp items; and to talk and hear.
  • Frequently bend or twist at the neck and turn

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled student, and in good academic standing at Brightwater
  • Must have experience and interest in professional food service
