Position Overview

The Manager, Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), is a key member of the Corporate Security leadership team, responsible for leading the company's 24/7/365 Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). The Manager, GSOC is directly responsible for GSOC strategic planning and operations and evaluating and integrating approved systems and processes into the GSOC environment. The Manager, GSOC uses their diverse skill set and knowledge of GSOC/EOC center operations, systems, intelligence gathering and analysis, crisis/incident management, and the business to ensure the GSOC provides a dynamic and visible benefit to the company through world class operational excellence while mitigating risk to the company, and its employees and assets across the globe.

This is a highly visible and impactful role that is directly accountable for developing and maturing the GSOC, its processes, policies, and procedures.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead a strategic planning process for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise-wide Critical Event Management (CEM) and Exact Sciences Alert System programs, as well as the GSOC intelligence program.
  • Work cross-functionally with other internal departments; including, but not limited to, business continuity, facilities, workplace services, and environmental health and safety (EHS) to evaluate processes and inputs into the GSOC environment; is the ultimate approver for all input requests.
  • Responsible for critical decision-making during critical incidents impacting the company, its employees, or assets, and works collaboratively with the other stakeholders in enterprise crisis management and recovery efforts.
  • Manage and lead the strategic intelligence program, overseeing research, examination, preparation, and delivery of intelligence threat briefings, including but not limited to, daily and travel intelligence briefs, and situational reporting (SITREP).
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of GSOC policies, standards, and procedures to ensure systems and the GSOC are delivering maximum value to the business; assist with harmonizing risk and incident response policies.
  • Drive technical and procedural solutions for the GSOC that add value, are innovative, and contribute to the safety and security of Exact Sciences' employees and assets across the globe.
  • Drive accountability of the GSOC team through identified and meaningful Key Performance Indicators and track performance through metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with emergency and crisis management, other security team members, local public safety, and emergency services partners in running drills and scenarios from the GSOC.
  • Work collaboratively with emergency and crisis management in the development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of all aspects of the security department's emergency and crisis management program.
  • Work with internal stakeholders in business continuity, facilities, workplace services, real estate, and others to develop response plans utilizing the CEM and BC systems, as well as the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command, if required.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert regarding GSOC operations and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other leaders in the corporate security function to ensure operational alignment and quality service.
  • Represent corporate security and coordinate crisis and critical event response with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Oversee, review, and continuously monitor all computer-aided dispatch (CAD), dispatch entries, reports, and intelligence data from the GSOC to ensure quality outputs.
  • Owns all emergency, life safety, and standard communications directed to the GSOC.
  • Ensure company retention policy requirements regarding all GSOC-related event logs and incidents are adhered to.
  • Identify and schedule all appropriate certifications and inspections of the GSOC.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative threat, vulnerability, and risk analyses.
  • Stay informed with corporate security and GSOC industry trends and solutions.
  • Assign and/or update incident severity levels based on business impact and risk during peak business.
  • Build, lead, mentor, and train personnel to continually sustain a highly qualified and high-performing team. Manage and engage personnel through motivation and encouragement to develop elevated level performance while adapting to the demands of a fast-paced, high-growth company.

  • Ability to be on-call on a rotating basis, be available via phone and are subject to call-in to support departmental security operations, if needed.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Security, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Degree/General Education Degree and 6 years of relevant experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, or relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • 6+ years of experience in a corporate security setting, the military, or law enforcement.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing Everbridge Critical Event Management (CEM) and Visual Command Center (VCC), and/or other intelligence or critical event management programs.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
  • 3+ year of experience working in an emergency operations center (EOC) or GSOC.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with enterprise emergency communication systems, such as Everbridge or related systems.
  • Successful completion of advanced level IS/ICS courses as designated by the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities by prioritizing daily tasks and operational demands and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computer (PC) and Camera Operating Systems.
  • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; no suspended, revoked, surrendered, invalid, etc. allowed.
  • No more than two moving violations, events, or accidents within the last 36 months.
  • No alcohol or drug event in which a vehicle was driven by the candidate or employee, including but not limited to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) failure, refusal to submit to alcohol or drug test, alcohol related suspension, etc. in the last 36 months.
  • No other results from the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that exposes Exact Sciences to what Exact Sciences deems to be an unacceptable level of liability.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience using S2 Security or a similar access control platform.
  • 2+ years of experience using ServiceNow for IT service management or a similar service management tool.
  • 2+ years of experience using Cloudgate/SoloInsight or a similar visitor management software tool.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) through ASIS International.

Salary Range:

$109,000.00 - $174,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
