Position Description:

The University of Iowa Department of Sociology and Criminology invites applications for a Visiting Instructorposition to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of sociology or criminology.



A Visiting Instructor position can be full-time (4 courses per semester), time (3 courses per semester), or half-time (2 courses per semester). The initial appointment is for one year (2024-25). The full-time equivalent salary is $60,376 plus benefits.

Education Requirement:

  • PhD in sociology or criminology or related field in hand by start date

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent potential to teach in undergraduate courses in sociology, criminology, or criminal justice.
